"CHILDREN'S RIGHTS MUST BE RESPECTED DURING ARMED CONFLICTS. " DO YOU THINK THIS IS TRUE? IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING?
War is usually a time of armed conflict where children suffer an array of toxic and harmful effects, which are clearly a violation of their rights, but is this true? In my opinion it totally is.
According to the United Nations Children's Fund, 2 million children have been killed by armed conflict over the last decade; 6 million children have been made homeless and 12 million have been injured or disabled; this data all corresponds to innocent children who didn’t cause any harm to anyone, and who never wanted a war to happen in the very first place. I believe that this is a horrifying fact and it makes me sad just to think about it.
Many programs dedicated to children’s protection and safety -such as the ones directed by UNICEF or the “Save the children” fund- have been created over the latter decades; but in my opinion it hasn’t been enough, because, as the data above confirms, a lot of children are still suffering from diverse problems caused by armed conflict.
In conclusion, I believe that everyone should be able to grow up without death and violence -both of them present in war- constantly surrounding them, and the children who are deprived of this option are having their rights broken.
