Fortunate son by Creedence Clearwater
Fortunate son is a song by the band Creedence Clearwater written the year 1969. John Fogerty said he wrote it in response to the wedding of David Eisenhower and Julie Nixon.
The song is built up upon the idea that society is divided into fortunate and unfortunate sons in America. For the fortunate sons, as the song quotes "born with silver spoon in hand", life is easy and pleasant. They are protected by a discriminatory military draft system that allows the wealthy and well educated not to have to serve in Vietnam, being free to support the war without having to face the consequences.
I've chosen this song because although I already knew it and liked it quite a lot, when I discovered the irony in the lyrics and the deep meaning it had I liked it even more.
